DPF Sensor?

Hi, trying to help my sister out. She sent an e-mail saying the mechanic told her she needed a new DPF sensor and I guess the price set her off. She has a 99 Ford Ranger. What is a DPF sensor, what's the cost, where is it, and what do I need to replace it? Thanks.

Re: DPF Sensor?

probably meant dpfe which is Differential Pressure Feedback exhaust gas recirculation sensor or egr sensor. they might sell 2 types metal and plastic the plastic ones are reportedly better then the metal.

easy job should not take longer then 30 minutes.

thank you. I did more searching and found DPFE. I'll order the plastic one and get it replaced for her. Waiting to hear back from her on what they were going to charge.

A few years back I had no idea what this was and had the dealer replace it. What a waste of money. The part is so easy to replace a cave man can do it.

Re: DPF Sensor?

DPFE sensors get contaminated with water and fail regularly.
