Re: Question: How do I make a trunkdoor for a pickup?

to make it open ud have to do some fancy hinge work...but if u didnt paint the plastic u could just make it stationery and then be able to see all the stuff in the trunk since it's clear.

Re: Question: How do I make a trunkdoor for a pickup?

here is the plastic modeling tutorial section, there might be somethin about hinging doors in there. u can also ask the folks in the plastic modeling section since they usually always have to make their own hinges for the plastic models

Re: Question: How do I make a trunkdoor for a pickup?

to cut the plastic.. use a hot knife.. or.. use a dremel tool.. cut it slightly larger than you need.. and then sand it perfect.. if you use a hack saw on the plastic it will run the risk of cracking.

Re: Question: How do I make a trunkdoor for a pickup?

Your best bet probly would have been to start with cardboard, then once you've gotten the right shape and a perfect fit, finalized with the plastic. As for hinges, they can be done any number of ways, the way I make hinges are a styrene tube, and an aluminium rod. If you like I could sketch up a quick picture of how it works for your application.
