Re: 2003 altima

Is it automatic? If the battery is dead the shifter won't move unless you release the shift lock just above the "P" for park. Also, the shifter won't move unless the brake pedal is depressed.

Re: 2003 altima

Service Bulletin Num : 03004a
Date of Bulletin: JUL 19, 2005 View Document

Component: POWER TRAIN: AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION
Summary: 2002-2005 NISSAN ALTIMA; AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION SHIFTER SELECTOR MAY BE HARD TO OPERATE

I also thought at one time I had seen one that had to do with an electrical problem but I couldn't find it.

Re: 2003 altima

The shift lever will not move if the steering wheel is turned slightly and there is pressure on the internal lock mechanism. It happened to me and Nissan suggested turning the steering wheel one way or the other to relieve the pressure. It happens to most cars that have the same steering wheel interlock mechanism.
