Question '99 tranny fluid check?

How do I check the tranny fluid in a '99 5 speed? Only found one plug, dont want to pull it in case it is the wrong one.

Re: '99 tranny fluid check?

The fill plug is located towards the front of the car and the drain plug towards the rear. There's no way to check it other than to pull the fill plug and pour in a little fluid until it spills over. Theres a how-to on CEG with pictures of the plugs.

Re: '99 tranny fluid check?

Hi
I have the durateck 2.5 V6 ...Automatic tranny.
Anyhow theres a yellow dip stick next to the firewall on the drivers side. Look toward the engine & ground its in there hiding. lol
The V-6 owner manual says to check tranny fluid with the engine running in park after driving approx 15 - 23 miles / warm up.
I'm not sure about the 4 cylinder instructions though & therefore cannot advise.
