Exclamation Park Ave Power Steering LOOSE

1995 Park Ave Base...

I recently put an after-market power steering cooler in-place of the stock one because of a leak.

When I installed it I took the cap off the pump, poured fresh ps-fluid in and ran the steering full-swings left and right witht he car running and the cap off... The level didn't go down, so I figured it was full.

Now, having run the car a couple thousand miles, the steering is WAY more loose than it was originally...

Every time there's a bump or a groove in the road it feels like the tires are turning seperate from the wheel... Or, when I wiggle the wheel back and fourth over 30mph there seems to be a delay in the wheel's response, OR it feels like they're OVER turning for the amount of steer I'm applying.

Is there a bleeder on the PS-rack that I missed?? Please help! I'm extremely scared to be driving aroun like this.. (plus I don't know how much damage I'm causing, if any.)

Also, could this be a tie-rod end problem? not PS?

Dan

See if your inner tie rods have any play. I had to replace one on my 1992 Park Ave because the steering was lose.

Yea, I just came home and there's definately toe-out on my passanger side. I can be going in a straight line, holding the wheel straight, and all of the sudden the car will drift to the right out of no-where... not violently.. but NOTICIBLY.

I'll put her on the jack tomorrow.

Re: Park Ave Power Steering LOOSE

Well that's the last time I use the air-pump at a certain gas-station. I had put 37lbs of air in my tires... as I always do...

Turns out when I went into MY shop to check my tires out the pressure read 62lbs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

THAT is why the car was swerving so badly. Everything was tight as far as tie-rods and ball-joints... it was the goddamn tire pressure.

I have let that particular gas-station know and they replaced the air-gauge end that day...

I can't believe it was 30lbs over. I'm surprised I didn't die.

That's crazy, glad the tire didn't explode when you were filling it up. I always carry around a digital gauge in the glove box.

I'm amazed it didn't let loose when you filled it to that. Your miles per gallon probably shot up though!
