1991 ford escort died and will not start
I am working on a Ford escort that just died on the freway and will not start again. I have checked for spark and fuel and it is getting both. I also thought it might have jumped time but it is dead on. We had the ignition control module checked and it is good. So now I am lost? What else can make it not start? Or how do you check the codes? Any help is apreciated. Thank you.

Have you done a compression test?

I agree that it sounds like the belt... especially if it just suddenly died while driving.
If fuel and spark are there, you somehow aren't getting compression... and it is most likely due to a busted belt. |

OK I would agree that it might be the belt but I have checked it. That is why i said the timing is dead on. I pulled and checked(since i cant get it started to time it). Any other ideas? Or does anyone know how to check the codes?

Re: 1991 ford escort died and will not start
If you are certain that you have spark and fuel, and that the timing is correct, then you are missing compression. Do as KimMG suggested and do a compression test.
