Exclamation 97 lesabre dies while driving

My mother in-laws 97 lesabre keeps dying on her while she is driving and then it wont start back up, ten mins later it fires right up and drives like a champ, the problem is intermittent, somtimes its fine sometimes it dies. She says it will lose power driving down to road and then come back to life and keep driving, I cant get it to act up when i drive it, i scanned it , 2 codes, one for multiple cylinder misfires, and mixture too lean, plugs, wires, batt, intake man., all new, i think it is the coil but im not sure, PLEASE HELP!

Re: 97 lesabre dies while driving

There's actually quite a few things that can cause this.
Crank sensor
ICM
Fuel pump
Corroded ground bus
poor battery connections

I'd start with the free things & check the battery connections & driver's side ground bus for corrosion.

The only way to properly evaluate the fuel pump and fuel supply system is to connect a fuel pressure tester gauge and see if fuel pressure is within specs. Also, it will test the fuel pressure regulator and conditon of the fuel filter which should be replaced first.

Pressing the Schrader valve on a hot engine proves nothing and I recommend not doing it. Good way to start an engine fire or get fuel in your eyes if not performed properly.
