2ohm dvc sub

I just purchased these:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...MEWN:IT&ih=020

Not thinking right, I read the item description and in there it said dual 4 ohms...now I find myself reading it's dual 2 ohms.

I have two amps, and each sub will run off of one amp. However, the amp (profile ha700m or something like that), isn't 1ohm stable, but is 2ohm stable so if I hooked up a sub to an amp with both coils, it would be unstable...

My question is, can I just use one voice coil? Or is there something else I can do? Or am I pretty much screwed here...

Re: 2ohm dvc sub

Ok, so if I have to connect both voice coils, anyway to keep the load at just 2 ohms? Or should I get in contact with the guy and ask him I really meant to buy his 4 ohm dvc subs and hope he cooperates...

Gah, I'm not sure what to do now. Dual 2 ohms makes you think it'll run at 1 ohm, but then:

http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pn...tailsComponent

It says the ohm rating is 2 ohms for the D2 and 4 ohms for the D4.

I'm so confused right now :\, can anyone chime in quickly so I can contact the seller in a timely manner if need be?

Can this sub, on its own, run at 2 ohms?

Re: 2ohm dvc sub

just run each sub at 4 ohm hook one positive and one negative up on one side using both post and you will have 1 positive and 1 negative to hook to the amp

Re: 2ohm dvc sub

I wanted them to run at 2 ohm so more power can get to it. I'll just contact the seller and ask if he can ship the 4 ohm dvc version instead.

Re: 2ohm dvc sub

You can bridge the amp to 4-ohm if you wire each sub up in series, therefore getting the most power out of the amp. By the way this would be one sub per amp.

Re: 2ohm dvc sub

But the amp is 2-ohm stable...am I missing something?

Two amps, 200w@4ohms and 350w@2ohms, each amp powers one sub...

Re: 2ohm dvc sub

i'm confused as to what version that sub is. the listing says:
# 12" Dual 2 ohms Subwoofer
# Impedance: 2 or 8 ohms
# Dual 4 ohm Voice Coils
# 2 ohm Dual Voice Coil Wiring

so what is it dual 2 or dual 4?

Re: 2ohm dvc sub

It's dual 2 ohms. Each coil is 2 ohm, they screwed their listing.

pimprolla, this is the amp: http://cgi.ebay.com/Profile-HA700M-7...QQcmdZViewItem

It's mono, and only has a +/- terminal. How do you bridge a mono amp, and how is 4 ohms bridged more power than 2 ohms? Could you please explain that? Thanks.

Re: 2ohm dvc sub

a mono amp that is not 1 ohm stable? lol.
you can't bridge a mono amp, you will have to run it at 4 ohms.
a multi channel amp would combine the power of two channels into one channel to deliver roughly twice the power. if the amp was 2 ohm stereo stable and you bridged it with a 4 ohm sub, each channel would see 2 ohms.

Re: 2ohm dvc sub

oh, and if they screwed up their listing, causing you to buy the wrong product, they should switch the product or give you a refund.

Re: 2ohm dvc sub

Yeah, I would file a SNAD in a heartbeat if they don't fix the problem. I'll just flat out refuse the product so I don't have to pay return shipping

Re: 2ohm dvc sub

Sorry i thought you said 2-ch amp, sorry. Yeah id make sure they can send you a set of dvc 4 ohm subs. If you bridge a 2-channel amp you essentially make it a mono amp, but profiles are only stable to 4-ohm bridged. Mono amps are stable at either 2/4ohms. Contact them asap and if they havent sent them out then you have a good chance. If they have look at there return/exhcange policy.

Re: 2ohm dvc sub

Just wanted to let everyone know this person switched the subs on my order, per my request, with no hassle. So I'm no longer in a dilemma
