high/low compression

I've seen a few piston sets for cavaliers and the come in all different compression ratios. I think that the higher compression ones give you more horsepower? but im not really sure. Will an engine wioth 11:1 compression have more horsepower than one with 9:1 compression. Also I have heard you cant run 11:1 compression with a super or turbo charger is this true? What is the best course of action for incresing my hp low or high compression.

It's an old article of mine, but it should still cover the important parts of what you are asking. Go here.
