78 Corvette Pace Car

Another one down. I had some issues with this build but they were my own fault. I made more work for myself with a bad clear coat job. It took a long time and I had to be extra careful when sanding and polishing. It came out alright but I should have sanded further. I stopped because I didn't want to sand down to the decals. Not one of my best, an average job overall.

Still came out pretty awesome dude... But you might wanna take a fine brush and dab a little silver into some of those little black spots in the silver part of the paint job... they stand out big time in photographs. Won't be hard to touch up.

Re: 78 Corvette Pace Car

Love it.
I tried to build it when it came out, but I was hopeless then. I wouldn't mind picking a kit up again and having another crack, although I do prefer the smootehr lines of more modern Vette's.

I have the same kit that I'm about to start. Did you have fitment problems? Should I assemble the front bumper and glue it to the car before or after paint?

Congrats on finishing this. I really like the contrasting paint job but the silver flecks around the headlight doors are a bit distracting. I wouldn't mind building this someday.

Thanks to everyone who has responded. I'm glad you all like it in the pictures but they are the best ones. Maybe I'll take some pics in the sun. The paint isn't as smooth as I would like it and if I could have gotten my hands on another set of decals I would have repainted.

Thanks. The kit goes together really well, you'll like it. That isn't silver flecks around the headlight, it's wax that I missed. A toothpic cleaned it out nicely.

The only fitment issue I saw was with the front and read spoilers. But it's not a huge issue. I glued the front bumper on before I painted. You just have to be very careful when you put the body on the chassis.
