Replacing rear speakers in Malibu 04

Hi, I have a blown rear speaker in my 2004 Malibu LT and was wondering if anyone knows how to remove the rear deck? Thanks in advance.

Re: Replacing rear speakers in Malibu 04

Its a bit complicated.

First lower both the seats. Remove the side cusions. After that you will see all the screws that hold the rear deck into place.

I havent really experimented with the 04 ones, Ive only seen it done once.

Good luck.

Re: Replacing rear speakers in Malibu 04

To remove a rear speaker you dont have to dismount the deck. Is very easy just remove the speaker cover (push toward the rear winwhield and the pull it upside it should come out. Remove the 4 screws and disconnect the harness of the speaker that's all. for the new speaker if (isn't the factory model which i recommend aftermarket speakers) wont have the harness to connect it to the car's speaker wire so just the plug and patch to the new speakers. that's all
