Several codes - what exactly is wrong?
Hi,
The check engine light is on and when I checked the error codes it showed me the following: 17978, P1570 - Engine Control Module Disabled 16891, P0507 - Idle Air Control System: RPM higher than expected 16795, P0411 - Secondary Air Injection System: Incorrect flow detected 00532 - Supply voltage What does that all mean? What needs to be fixed? Is there any source which can explain what needs to be done when a certain combination of codes appear? I own the Bentley Manual for my model (2001 Beetle 1.8T) but it only lists the codes and does not point to the part I should take a look at. I have to say that I'm rather used to working on 60's and 70's beetles so all this electronic stuff is new to me. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Frank |

Quote:
2- usually caused by carboned up intake and throttle body or broken breather hoses under the intake manifold. 3-Check the turbo bypass valve on the intake pipe. Its the one that has the 1/4" vacuum hose going off it, check and see if it holds vacuum with a vacuum pump 20" and does not drop. If its drops than replace the valve. Also check the 1/4" vacuum hoses on top of the intake manifold and valve cover for cracking and fraying. Also check the secondary air combi valve on the side of the cylinder head if it holds vacuum. Its the silver valve with a 1/4" vacuum hose coming off it and a large 1" plastic pipe going to it. The 1/4" hose sometimes cracks right at the end where it goes onto the valve. 4- If your battery is dead it will set this code
