cleaning power steering fluid from front end
my power steering pump has been leaking for quite a while and the fluid has drained out all over the rods and hoses on the driver side in the engine compartment. Is there any easy way to clean this without getting too dirty myself?
I need to clean it off because I think I may have a problem with the steering system (possible linkage bushing problem). and I can't see too clearly now. Thanks chris |

Re: cleaning power steering fluid from front end
You can try Simply Green, Super Purple, Brake Cleaner, Carb Cleaner or high pressure hose from car wash. I'd probably go with 409 and a roll of paper towels. Try some dishwashing gloves if you don't want to get your nails dirty.

you could try power washing with some degreaser but be carefull to no knock anything loose. I work at a car dealership, and we power wash every engine before it goes on the lot.

You should try to catch as much as you can in rags or something and dispose of them properly and don t just let it run in a strom drain....
