Post 1995 olds 3100 trans question

Hello there have a question i need help on right away .
I bought a olds cutlass ciera runs like a top.
Had to fix power steering line and trans line and brakes.

Trans was low on fluid but never drove untill filled up .
Trans was low because it sat a somhow worked a leak in line. NY salt !! lol

put it on the road and runs great . however the trans slips or will rev up at about 30 mph then kick in or rev up untill i let off the gas and slowly press it.

Will shift and run through all gears if you take off real fast.

Also trans did not kick in at 55 mph. 1 time
Will rev up in drive or over drive does not make a difference.

did put trans x in and did not work ... or i did not notice a change .

COuld it be the filter? HOW hard to change and price.. it did sit 1 year!

Re: 1995 olds 3100 trans question

Im not a hundred percent on what type of trans the car has, but a few things to check... one would be the vac line going to the trans, secondly, a new filter is not a bad idea. The vacume line is related to the governer in the trans and lets it know what load the engine is under. If the vac modulator has a leak in the diaphram it would definately mess up the shift points... see if it will hold vacume, or look for trans fluid in the vac line. IF either of these fail, you'll need a more in depth diagnosis at a repair facility
