speed sensor

Hey everybody,
O.k. I have a '92 Ford Escort Lx and the speed sensor is broken. I took it to a mechanic the other day and he said that it was jammed, and corroded. He tried to get it out for a hour and a half. It didn't come out.
Anybody have any ideas on how to get it out???
Also if anyone has a picture of where it is located it would be appreciated. Please send them.

i pretty much have the same problem, i'll take some pics of mine tomorro but mines a 95 so i dunno how different there gonna be

i had a standard transmission ('93), and i imagine it is different for auto, but mine was pretty tough to remove once. remove the pin and cable and push it aside. remove the bolt (10mm) holding the bit of metal that pins the speed sensor into the transmission. that metal plate thing (who knows what it is called) was actually damaged enoguh to remove on mine, so i could pull it out sideways and get a good prying flange. yours may not come out as easily. i soaked it in a penetrating solvent/oil, whacked it around with a plastic mallet, and pryed it out. there was no damage.

the two things you could damage (unless you break it off inside the transmission!) are the transmission surface/seal, or the sensor itself. a new sensor is about 25 bucks at autozone (i replaced a leaky one once) and i imagine you could fix a scored or dented seal surface with gasket sealer. not a big deal given you only open those things up once a year.
