89 ea ford weird electrical problem

hi
first post i know but at my wits end
my ea falcon has develpoed a rather strange electrical fault when i turn the lighs on only the left one turns on at nowhere near the standard brightness the temp and fule gauge goes haywire when i turn them on without the motor running all the ignition lighs turn on and the gas mixer starts doing it's thing

lead up to this was removing the battery to take to jumpstar a mates moto

can't see any broken wires and none of the relays apear chared or melted all the fuses are working

the only thing i can think it may be it the earth but unless ive busted it i don't know
