missing out

I have a 1994 grand am se with a quad 4 with direct ignition system. a mechanic told me I had a cracked head and refused to diagnose the problem. I think he saw money. I smell raw fuel and the number 4 cylinder is not firing. Have checked for a signal to the injector and is ok. also replaced the fuel injector. I am thinking about pulling the valve cover and see if I have a stuck valve. Any other suggestions

Re: missing out

Welcome to AF.

If it has a gas smell in the cylinder then I would say the injector is working, but the ignition is not firing on that cylinder to burn the fuel.

Probley should go through your plugs and wires and have the coils/ignition tested.

Hope that helps!

Re: missing out

I have replaced the plugs and ignition module and coils checked out ok. replaced the coil holder also, doesn't have wires, this is a direct ignition system. I have been told to check out the rubber o rings on the injectors. I am getting fire to the plug but is still missing on number 3.

Re: missing out

Yes I now how your car is, thier are boots that connect the coils to the plugs.
They crack and can short out causing a miss.
