No headlights(High or Lo beams) after installing new low beam bulbs

Hi All,

Not sure what's happened here. I put in new headlight bulbs over the weekend. I didn't check them to see if they worked or not at the time. What the heck they're new right?

Now I have no headlights whatsoever. No dims and no brights. When I pull the lever to switch to brights I get nothing. No headlights, no blue Bright indicator on the dash.

I'm pretty confident it's not the new bulbs themselves since the brights don't work either.

No blown fuses... What else should I look at? The switch on the column under the dash?

Help!

What year Astro? I highly suspect the hi/lo beam switch- look for melted contacts- if it is an older Astro.....- or rod that is out of adjustment.........under dash on steering column

Well after spending about an hour with the volt meter and taking what seemed like half of the van apart... It was the switch in the dash. Replaced that and the dimmer switch, just as a precaution, and all is well.

Troubleshooting suggests that the dimmer (multi-function) switch is defective for my 99 Astro. I would like to replace it; the switch cost is about $200-$265.

Is it possible to replace the switch without removing the steering wheel and disengaging the airbag?

How difficult is the repalcement?

I replaced the one in my 98 safari without removing the wheel but it wasnt the easiest thing to do lots of things to remove and tight places to work but i managed look at the switch to see how it goes on..
what year you have?

Are looking at the dimmer switch or the multi-function switch for that price? The dimmer switch should cost no more than $50 for the part.....

When you pull the lever to dim, it pushes a metal lever which runs down the steering column and triggers the actual dimmer switch.

The dimmer switch is not locacted right there where the stalk mounts....
