I just bought a 96 Civic CX and it didn't have a tach. I went out and bought one and hooked everything up but the wire to the coil. I can't figure out which wire coming out of the Dist. cap is for the coil ground please help me. Does my car have a tach lead inside the car even though it doesn't have a tach? Thanks in advance.

usually its the blue wire coming out of your distributor that you use for a tach hookup. At least that what it is on my car.

silver dots
well on my civic it was the blue wire with silver dots if yours is stripped probably that one...
it might kinda be in the same location as mine was. its rite behind your h/c gauge its in a big harness tap into the blue and silver one. if you have two the one with silver dots as apposed to a silver strip, is the rpm wire. but from what ive gotten from installing mine was other gauges run off the same wire it just reads the output diffrently.. |

aw sorry did you spilce it while you were installing it?
heh if ida seen that extra wire ida went take a closer look at mine.. but o well yuh got it hooked up, good for yuh.. i couldnt think of a good way to mount mine on top my dash but i figured a nice way i started a hole with a drill not far just enough to puncture into the tach then i drilled a holle through the bottom of my dash from above my dash gauges and screwed it into the hole i made in the tach the velcro was temporary and very tacky.. later. |

I mounted mine to the side post with 2 small screws. It sits in the corner of the dash so I can see it really good. I still have enough room to put 2 guage pods when I get a worthy motor in there.
