Misfire #1 after intake gasket replacement
Well, I finally replaced the intake manifold gasket and my coolant leak is resolved. However, I now have a P0301 code coming back and a noticeable miss. My little OBD scanner shows 2 codes (P0301 and P0301 P), not sure what the "P" means. I'm thinking 2 things here. 1) the fuel injector at # 1 is either not connected correctly or it's plugged, 2) I torqued the rocker arm(s) at #1 too tight and the valves are not closing all the way. I'm about to do a compression test to verify this...does anyone know what a 2000 Malibu cylinder should read on compression?
Also, the CEL stays on continuously when idling or low speeds but when accelerating it will flash...does that signify anything? Thanks! |

When your CEL light comes on it and remains lit, it means there has been a fault, and there is a code stored in memory.
When it flashes, it means the car has misfired , as for the miss, I would check out the plug first. It might give you some insight. Then the fuel injector connector.. Easiest one first, right?

Yeah, normally I would check the plug or wire first but just prior to replacing the gasket I replaced all plugs and wires and all was fine for a few weeks. The misfire started happening after the gasket replacement which leads me to believe it's something I did during that ordeal. I'm wondering now if I connected the #1 fuel injector wiring completely. I guess I'll find out Friday.
