Rebuilt Transmission Vs. Used
Looking for some advice from those who have had the experience of having your transmission replaced or rebuilt. I have to make a decision not sure which is best. I have owned other cars before with rebuilt transmissions in them and never had problems with it after. Tight on cash right now and I know that a used transmission is the cheaper way to go but not sure about the risks and this option. Help!

Re: Rebuilt Transmission Vs. Used
Well If You can find one that doesn`t have alot of miles on it maybe. Check the fluid colour and smell it .if it smells burnt leave it. probably going to cost about 1/2 the cost of a new one at bone yard. Depends on how long you are going to keep car also. Tough Call ...................put in a used one and get a bad one or put in a new one and get warranty. My self if the car was not to old I would rebuild. Money there jst isn`t enough......LOL. Just My Two cents.

Re: Rebuilt Transmission Vs. Used
rebuilt tranny's usually come with some sort of warranty as long as they are rebuilt by a reputable shop, but that quality also comes at a price. or u could get a used one and just hope for the best. it just depends on how much money u actually have to play with. i would go with used as long as the car doesnt have too many miles or was abused, but its ur call. used will proly be less reliable than a rebuilt but u never know.

Re: Rebuilt Transmission Vs. Used
I had mine rebuilt and works fine, plus i have warranty on it....used ones have no warranty and you can just "hope" it's going to be a good one.I f you don't have money go for the rebuilt one 'cause in the long run you're gonna have to replace the used one again( may not even work for a couple of months. ) but that's if you're planning to keep the car for a while.
