Poping noise during low speed braking...
This has been a reoccuring problem for some time now and the dealership I take the G to be serviced at can't find a problem. (Just to get this out of the way I own a 92 G, 5-speed) Anyway, I have been hearing this poping noise under really slow speed like when I am stopping (but not just when I come to a stop). It doesn't make a difference whether I have the clutch in or not either, although I notice it more when the clutch is in. This is not consistant becasue the poping happens sometimes (although not frequently) in the morning, but usually it pops when the car is hot, like when it has been sitting in the sun at a parking lot, then I back the car out of a spot, brake and it pops. It would seem like there is something wrong with the brakes, but could it be something else? Has anyone had the same problem and what can I do to fix it? Thanks.

I get the same thing. Haven't found it yet. A brake job didn't cure it either.
Strange.

Hmmm...
I've heard it could be the brake adjustors simply doing their thing. Sounds pretty awful though...like when metal is put in a microwave.

You know this kind of thing happens to me too on my brakes. When the widows are down and i'm slowing from about 7ish mph to 0...it makes this "click click click" noise down till i stop...is that like the anti-rattle stuff not working?...dunno ive never heard of this happening before..any suggestions guys?

My suspicion to this problem lies in the brake fluid properties itself. Incompressible fluid degrades its properties (viscosity, etc.,) over time, especially when it exposes to a temperature range. When under pressure (parking brake on) with exposure of temperature, the fluid either expands or contracts creating possible air bubbles and when release or even pressing brake, it cracks. This is normal for aging cars.
The other possibility of the cracking noise, as experience by some, is the ac generator. It is normal in the G20 that when at slow speed, you turn on the AC, the cracking noise generates. Hope that help release some of your stress......... jIm
