Getting Low MPG
I have a 1995 Nissan Altima GXE and I just recently filled up and put in about 11 gallons of gas and got about 201 miles off it. I was reading around and it seems that i should be getting around 21mpg and according this im getting about 18. I know it doesn't seem like that much but it adds up i mean 3mpg differnce times 11 gallons your looking at 33 more miles. Is this just because my cars old? I don't accelerate very fast or anything.

Re: Getting Low MPG
There are 1000 different things which affect fuel economy.
It's also very difficult to get an accurate reading off one tank-full. Run a tally over a month or so and see what that works out to. |

Re: Getting Low MPG
Tire pressure affects gas mileage
Temperature affects gas mileage (colder = worse) Health of engine in general affects gas mileage. Proper suspension geometry affects gas mileage. And mostly, DRIVING HABITS affect gas mileage.
