Bull bars?
Who makes the est bull-bar out there? I've seen ARB, TJM, Calmini, etc... Whats your opinion on who makes the best one? I personally like the Calmini, but I think the TJM and ARB offer better protection to the vehicle. Let me kow your opinions.
Peace, MooT |

Supposedly the Calmini is the strongest and installs the easiest. Personally, I think it's butt ugly and I don't like the fact that it offers no protection to the headlights and signal lights or that you can't mount auxillary lights AND a winch at the same time. Frankly, I'm not too excited about either of the Calmini bumper options, as I feel both were stopped short of being the complete and exceptional products they could have been.
The TJM is nice but might be hard to get still...not sure. I would say it's nearly identical to the ARB in terms of function and strength. The ARB, IMO, is the best looking of the bunch, it's sturdy, and it has the protection and options I want. It's not perfect, but what is? The ARB sometimes bolts right on and sometimes it's a total PITA and requires adjustments. I think ARB and Nissan are both responsible for inconsistencies in their manufacturing tolerences. But, you know what they say about opinions.

I'd say the ARB is a tad stronger than the TJM T15, and much stronger than the TJM T17 (that I have) but between the ARB and T15 it's still a toss-up. The TJM has separate bumper and mounting bracket pieces, as well as bolt-on "wings" while the ARB is a one-piece unit, but the TJM mount system has held up to the abuse I've given it so far. The TJM does a much better job covering/protecting the gap between the frame rails below the radiator, but you can get a plate to cover that gap on the ARB. The TJM has much larger turn signal openings that could support aftermarket fog lights better than the tiny ones on the ARB, if that's important to you.

Just to defend ARB. Did you know Scott, that ARB is not a direct seller (ie. they sell to resellers, not customers?) You asked them for a "deal", and they gave you one. It's basically like getting something out of the bargain bin as is. If you had bought it for full price from Central 4-wheel drive, it would have been a different case.

One advantage to Calmini is you have more winch options. You are not limited to the type with a non-integrated solinoid.

I'm trying to decide on which bullbar to get, and i can't decide. Now that Calmini has made headlight guards standard on their BullBar, and a lightbar available separately, do you think that Calmini is compairable to ARB and TJM?

I did not ask them for a deal, Claus did. I only jumped on it when Claus decided that he was not going to. I'm happy with how everything turned out (No thanks to them) but I certainly would never buy anything from them again. |
