Transferring songs from iPods

I just got myself a new iPod but I want to get the songs out of the old one that I have. iTunes is no help nor does Windows explorer. Does anyone know of a way to yank out the songs and have their filenames intact? Windows explorer will be able to see the files but the filenames are different unintelligible strings of text. TIA!

Re: Transferring songs from iPods

There are programs out there to rip music from your ipod, I just can't think of any right at the moment.

EDIT: IPOD Rop, Tune Transfer, IPOD Agent, Copypod, Podutil, these are a few programs. You can search goole for ipod ripper or ipod to computer.

Re: Transferring songs from iPods

the program that i use, and find very handy, is called SharePod http://www.sturm.net.nz/website.php?...&Page=SharePod

it's easy to use and very useful. the only problem is that it will not transfer your playlists. I have yet to find a program that will. so until then, you will either have to rebuild them manually or just make new ones.

Re: Transferring songs from iPods

Thanks guys! It did not even dawn on me to Google "iPod to computer". After I did, this link popped up and is exactly what I needed... it even re-creates the playlists for you (or so the article claims, I'm at work so I haven't tried it yet).

Thanks again!!
