How long has it been since the transmission filter has been changed? If you don't know how to do it, you can get it done at most garages for less than 100 bucks. Some will certainly have a different opinion here, but in my opinion any tranny with over 100k, could use some Lucas when the fluid is changed.

You may want to have the diagnostic codes pulled and see if you have a P1100, Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor intermittent.

If you have a steady hand, you may want to attempt to clean the MAF sensor elements with MAF sensor cleaner. You'll want the anti-tamper Torx bits to remove the sensor from the housing. These bits and cleaner should be available at your local auto parts store.

To get the steps to reprogram the keyless entry key fobs, check the owner's manual or go back to the Taurus forum main page and use the "Search this forum" feature towards the upper right. Seach for keyword "programming" or similar.

I think you'd have a poor idle if it was the TPS.

Re: 2001 24 Valve Wagon I dunno???

Mine was hesitating and idling rough so I cleaned the MSFS and it went back to normal. One step at the time here, clean the MAFS then let's go from there. Another thing, has the tranny oil and filter been chaged and if so when.
If you don't know you must assume it wasn't done and we like to see it chaged 50K miles at most.

If you don't know how to clean the MAFS use the search engine and punch in "clean MAF or MAFS".
Just spray the clenmer on the tiny wires and DO NOT TOUCH or rub them with anything.
