Looking At A Monte
Hi all.
I'm looking at an '04 Monte Carlo LS, 3.4 V6 with 12,000 miles on it and I was wondering if the leaking intake manifold gasket is still an issue for this model year or newer. I've already gone through this with the 3.4 in my wife's Venture minivan, so I'd like to get some more info before I buy another 3.4. Thanks!

Re: Looking At A Monte
I don't believe it's an issue for the '04 model year and later. The redesigned gaskets came out in mid '02 and by '04 all vehicles with the 3.4 should have had the new intake gaskets. I personally have not seen a 2004 or later 3.4 with the intake gasket problem that plagued our Ventures,( and other GM model vehicles w/ the 3.4).

Re: Looking At A Monte
Around 2003/2004 is when GM started using the updated gasket, so its kinda a toss-up, you may have the new gasket, or it may still have the old design.
