Brembo rotors

I had new dealer installed Brembo rotors installed on my 97 4Runner about 20K miles ago along with new pads and shim kit. Lately I'm noticing a little bit front brake vibration (very slight) when applying brakes. Figuring the rotors might need to be resurfaced, I took the car to a non Toyota brake shop to have this done. He said they don't resurface rotors anymore since they are made so cheaply they are very thin to begin with. Is this true??? I thought rotors would last longer than 20K. The original rotors lasted 65K.

Unhappy Re: Brembo rotors

To be honest I don't know if the newer rotors can be resurfaced or not but I have a 94 4Runner and had my rotors replaced with Napa Parts and never had a problem since and they weren't expensive at all. 20K seems like not very much wear on your rotors, I'm no mechanic but I think they should last alot longer than that. I know mine were replaced about 3 years ago, no shimmys or shakes when applying brakes so other than that I honestly don't know what to suggest to you, sorry

Red face Re: Brembo rotors

Forgot to mention I also had to replace my brake calipers, there the 4 piston ones and mine were making my brake pads wear out prematurely.
It could be your Brake Calipers, wouldn't hurt to have them checked, because it came down to that being the culpret with the shimmying and shaking with my brakes, the calipers were sticking and constantly rubbing against the pads causing premature wear and a shimmy. Wouldn't hurt to try.

Re: Brembo rotors

Sounds like BS to me, I've had rotors turned in the last year or so.
Maybe they were beyond turning, but they should have said so.
