97 Tahoe lights flickering

I have a 1997 Tahoe 4x4 with 187,000 miles.
Recently, all the lights have been flickering. Interior lights and headlights.
The problem only happens when I'm in drive. It stops when in park.
I checked all the fuses, no luck.
I'm wondering if there is a short somewhere or is this a symptom of another problem. Otherwise, evcerything else is fine.
Thanks.

Re: 97 Tahoe lights flickering

Sounds like a few of us are experiencing the same problems. My interior lights are flickering when driving on rough roads or hitting potholes. Another posters headlights do it and yours both flicker. I haven't had a chance to get into mine, but it's been suggested I may have a door switch problem. If you do find the answer, please post back and share it with the rest of us.

Okay, thanks.
I'll try the battery connectors tomorrow and let you know what happens.

Re: 97 Tahoe lights flickering

I have the same problem but on an older 1999 Suburban. The interior lights flicker on bumpy roads or when taking turns hard. My alarm is acting funny as well (the door locks only open sometimes - never lock closed) I have to run around manually locking all the doors.

Re: 97 Tahoe lights flickering

Hi ALL, this may sound odd, but hang in here with while I explain. Our 97 Tahoe was doing the same thing and I own a repair shop and couldn't figure it out for 6 months, went through all the possibilities listed, then one day my wipers stopped working, pulled into the shop and found that the wipre module was shot, so I changed it out and my wipers worked (its located on the driver side firewall in the engine compartment.... Here's the wierd thing, that same day after changing out the wiper module the lights STOPPED FLICKERING..... We had no flickering at all for over a week, I had kept the old wiper module and so I put the old wiper module back in the truck and guess what, the lights started to flicker again, I put the new one back in and they stopped flickering, its been over a year now and have NO ISSUES with flickering lights...... The board must must have been going bad in the wiper module and sending bad signals back through the system effecting other systems.......

Re: 97 Tahoe lights flickering

My '99 had flickering interior lights, and I found that the rear hatch (I don't have the cargo doors) light switch was intermittent. I simply applied some silicone lube to the switch shaft and worked it in several times. It's been fine since.
