b16 Throttle Body swap

I just finished this mod. i got a b16 throttle body from a friend for 15 bucks and it bolted right on. we measured the b16 TB and it was 62mm, and if you check aftermarket parts, a 62mm TB cost about 300 bucks so i'd say its definately worth the money.

The only modification we had to do was reroute a vacuum line from the fuel cannister. the two coolant lines plug right in as well as the MAP sensor and TPS.

THE TEST:
I drove the car home after putting it on and i definately noticed the car sounds a bit louder and revs harder, and i havent even ported the manifold yet. that is a job for tomorrow when i finish completely i'll have to let you all know how it works out.

Wow, that's pretty cool.

*starts looking for new throttle body*

Also, what do you mean by porting the manifold?

Will you be putting up pics? I mean, I thought porting was a precise process.

how to port your manifold:

put the b16 throttle body gasket on your intake manifold and draw a line around the inside of the gasket onto the intake manifold. then grind the manifold as big as the circle you drew and about 1" into the intake at a nice smooth slope.

Its probably easiest to take the intake manifold off the car when you're porting.

One more piece of info: my stock d16z6 throttle body had the letters GR stamped onto it. my b16 throttle body has GF stamped into it.

it adds power for sure. thats why they sell aftermarket throttle bodies of the same size. i dont have access to a dyno or i'd tell you exactly how much. the throttle plate is actually bigger than my stock TB so it lets more air into the engine. more air = more power

yes, slightly more but not enough to warrant a giant upgrade in the fuel system like a turbo would be. i belive that with a mod like this, the sensors themselves would make the ECU make the injectors bring in more fuel since its not such a substantial amount of air that it would overload the sensors.
