Passenger side mirror broke

We just had a large storm here in ND and I tried to get my stratus back in my garage, but when I hit some ice it slid and busted the passenger side rear view mirror off. The cord going to it is still attached, thus the mirror is not fully off.

The base of the black molding holding it to the car is busted. It snaps right back into place and stays on, but I am afraid that when driving it would come lose and cause damage to the body as it hits it.

I was thinking of using some glue to secure it back onto the mounting. Any ideas on what kind of glue to use? My dad works at a place that puts in windshields so I sould be able to get the factory stuff if I am lucky.

2000, four door, stratus
the 'mirror' part is fine and unbroken

Re: Passenger side mirror broke

I went to a salvage yard and found a used one for my breeze. (you can also find new ones on ebay.)

(Getting the door panel off is tricky, I had to buy a shop manual to figure it out. If you decide to replace it and don't know how to get the panel off, post back and I'll see if I can get the instructions in a form I can send you.
