Some 300-6 Cheap Mod questions

Hi all,

I have an 89 F-150 with a 300-6 in it....

I have read in the past that you can put 19# injectors, and I think put a plate with a smaller whole in between the egr valve and intake along with a homemade cold air intake could be some cheap performance mods for the 300-6... Is this true?? Does anybody know any more?????

Also has anybody ran a true dual off of the factory header??? No emmisions here.... What can make 300-6 sound good???

Reason for asking is...
I picked up this truck with very little rust, a 6 inch suspention lift with a 3 inch body... Skid plates and 12.50 35s. New rear end, clutch and slave. New brakes and lines all the way around (even braided in the front). And some other stuff for a grand.... BUT this truck can only maintain speed in 5th gear on the highway.... (geared to high for the tires)...

Any little cheap mods whould be great!!! Truck will be 75% off of the road and 25% on.... Driven in WI....

Thanks for any help!!!
