jimmy heat problems

I Have A 99 Jimmy Andthe Heat Only Blows Cold. Whenyou Are Driving And You Get The Engine Warm, If You Shut Off The Truck And Immediately Re Start It, It Will Blow Warm For A Minute Or Two Thru The Dash Vents Then Goes Back To Cold. Someone At The Dealer Told Me It Was The Climate Control Actuator. I Have Seen Many Postings For This, But I Would Like To Know If This Is The Problem, Does The Entire Dash Have To Be Pulled Out? Someone With The Same Problem Only On A Blazer Said You Can Take Out This Actuator Thru The Glove Box. The Radiator Was Flushed About 10000 Miles Ago But It Just Started Doing This Heat Thing. Help....

Manual or auto heater controls?
First check is to see if the rad is full of coolant.
Is the engine getting up to normal 195-200 degrees?
Feel your heater hoses at the heater core.
Are both hot or cold or luke warm.
You could have a stopped up heater core.
If hoses are not hot at heater core.
Remove hoses and see if you can blow or run water threw the heater core.

Re: jimmy heat problems

It Has The Climate Control System Not The Manual
One. The Radiator Is Full, Dealer Checked And Said It Was Up To Temp. They Are The Ones That Said The Actuator Was Not Working The Blend Doors Correctly And They Want $1500.00 To Repair It. This Truck Has Been Babied All Its Life Although It Has 120000 Miles On It It Looks And Run Out Brand New. Do You Know If You Can Access The Actuator By Dropping The Glove Box? I Read On Here A Guy With A 99 Blazer Changed His Actuator Because The Gear Inside Broke And He Did It Thru The Glovebox, Even Had Pictures Posted. Can't Believe This Is A $1500.00 Problem.

If that is the problem. You may be able to change it by removing the glove box.
But make sure that is the probem.
Check the heater core first.
And try a recalibrate on it.
Remove the RDO/Batt fuse with key off for a minute and then install it and turn on key and it should recalibrate.
If heater core and recalibration is ok and you have automatic controls a body scanner will give you the body codes and point to the problem.
If the code points to the air tempt door actuator remove it and and manual switch the door to see if it works.
Sometimes the air tempt door inside heater core goes bad to.
Did the dealer give you the body code or say it was a bad actuator motor or a bad blend door?
Post back body codes.

Re: jimmy heat problems

They Just Said It Was The Actuator. I Don't Know Exactly What They Did. A Friend Of Mine Who Is A Mechanic Of 45+ Years Is Going To Check It Out, That Is Why I Wanted Help On What Else It Could Possibly Be. I Will Tell Him About The Recalibration And The Heater Core (which He Probably Knows Already). I Just Had Wondered Why Some People Said They Could Get Out The Part Thru The Glove Box And The Dealer Says The Dash Has To Be Pulled?? Thanks For Your Help.
