Can you Blush?

So, has anybody took a look at the new Toyota 5.7 Tundra's?
I think I am blushing. I never would have thought that Toyota would come out with a truck with more HP than Chevy, Dodge or Ford.

Any thoughts?

Re: Can you Blush?

What's the turdra's HP? 380? It has a slight edge over the 6.0

# Thundering 367 horsepower @ 5500 rpm
# 375 lb.-ft. of torque @ 4300 rpm

It would take a hell of a lot more than 13 hp to consider a Turdra. For me to even thing about it, it wold have to have something on the order of 600 hp.

Plus, have you considered how easy it would be to boost the HP up to 400 on the Chevy? A tune ought to take care of that. Try getting performance enhancements for the turdra.

So, to answer your question, the turdra looks like crap, plus the toyota emblem on the grille doesn't help it. I have never known anyone happy with their toyota. I would not consider buying a turdra at all. Plus, if I ever came home with a Toyota, I think my wife would kick my ass.

Re: Can you Blush?

The Tundra's Torque is a lot more than the Chevy's 6.0. it is over 400lbs ft.
But I do agree with you. Not too keen on the looks of the Tundra, but it is better then the 06's and before.

Turdra's is 401. 26 ft lbs of torque is not enough to make me even think about playing for the other team. you do whatever you gotta do, though.

Re: Can you Blush?

I think that you missed the Bliaards point. Why by some foreign piece of junk that aint near the truck the Chevy is......just because it has more horsepower or torque alone does not mean that it is a better truck or will pull faster or any of the above. There is so much more to making the best truck. Plus oyu would have to study the torque and horsepower curves. A peak horsepower or torque means nothing. It is when the engines carries that over a large RPM curve that it makes any sence. Take the infamous HEMI for instance it is rated at over 300 and something horsepower. Your 285 HP 5.3 will run circles around that Dodge. Just something to consider. The other thing is you need to consider that by supporting the american working man you are reinvesting $$$ back into your own economy. Never discount the importance of that.

Great, you just opened the door for all those Jap lovers to come in. They'll start out by stating that Toyota employs tens of thousands of people in the US, blah blah blah. Then they say that when you buy a GM product your overpaying because of UAW. What they don't mention is that GM currently has over 500,000 retirees that is supports compared to Toyota's 3,000 (look up the numbers). Also, GM has a hefty price tag to pay for Health Care (including all of those retirees). I just don't want people to start assuming that Toyota is an American company by any means because its fuckin-ugly Tundra is ASSEMBLED (look up the definition, which does not mean MADE, by the way) in San Antonio. I am buying the 2008 Silverado 4x4 Crew Cab (VortecMax) which will assembled in Ontario (Oshwana?? spelling?? anyways, one of the most productive plants), the engine will be made in Flint, MI or Ohio and the trans (hopefully the 6L80/90) will be made in either Toledo (I think, somewhere in Ohio though) or Ypsilanti, MI. After a few aftermarket mods I will run circles around your POS Jap crap, oh yeah.

Also, I don't remember if it was Car&Driver or Consumer Reports, but in the head-to-head 2007 Silverado vs 2007 Tundra, the Tundra beat the Silvy off the line (0-60 time almost 2 seconds better) but just barely hung on to win the Quarter Mile (I think by only 0.5 sec). For those who don't know, it's NOT peak HP & TQ, It's the consistency of the HP-to-TQ curve (as mentioned above).

P.S. Don't flame me. I have nothing against those hard-working individuals that work for Toyota. I just don't want a Japense product labeled American (yes, believe it or not, the company that manufactors the Tundra is based in Japan).

P.P.S. WTF, Ford?? Get on the ball!! Those plain-ass F-150's need a makeover!!

Re: Can you Blush?

Maybe it's me but have you guys ever looked inside a Tundra...it just doesn't look right for some reason. Even though Chevy trucks can have a lot of little problems this forum has made a huge difference in helping people sort things out and getting them patched up. I vote for Chevy trucks!!!

Re: Can you Blush?

You guys are great,
I truelly wish that people in this country would stop and think for just one damn minute the impact of buying foreign cars and other products too has on the American economy. C'mon people use your brains God gave em to ya. Of course things made in other countrys can be sold cheaper, its called slave labor, anyone here want to sign up for that. OK OK I am done......

Sure there are problems with every car they are made by man and they all have some problems. Couple that with the common mistreatment of the consumer. With that said, GM makes pretty darn good products. My father has always put in excess of 200K miles on every vehicle he has owned by doing little more than maintnance.

Next: Who wants a Jap pickup that says Terd (TRD) on the back quarter panel. Once again proof that they are indeed Jap vehicles.
Keep the faith gentlemen.

Re: Can you Blush?

I love chevy and always have. I have put over 150K on all my Chevys, but I like to keep an open mind. I have owned a Toyota in the past and it was a great truck. I know in general Toyota's do very well with high resale values as well.

As far as the American economy, most American cars are not made in the US. However most Jap cars are. So who is really supporting the American economy. Infact, most American Companies have out sourced there labor to other countries, such as Motorola, IBM, and AMD. So what does that tell you about "American Company Loyalty"? It is just something to think about.

Re: Can you Blush?

As I write this, I know that Im stirring the can up this can of worms even more than I probably should. While yes the Tundra is a bit different looking, but look what Dodge did back in 94 with the Ram, and Ford has done with the F150 and Super Dutys. All of them have been love em or hate em styling. Chevy has been in the same boat, I remember when so many were in an outrage with the updated front clip of the 03 Silvys.

Back to my point, hate toyota all you want, but they have made quite the 1/2 ton pickup (almost 3/4 ton qualities in a half ton package). Time is the only thing that will tell if it holds up.

I love my silvy, but I wish GM would put a little bit more thought into how they design an build their product. Maybe take a little bit more risk. I think they have gotten a bit conservative and are falling behind.

Re: Can you Blush?

I agree with you on your statement. I love Chevy, but have not been too impressed with there styling. They did better this year. But it could be better. They need to make them more agressive.

The only pickup on the market that rivals the chevy in looks is the GMC.

Ok, and, as much as i hate to admit it, I have always liked the Ford Super Duty trucks.
