no cruise control
hey guys I need a little help. I recently bought a 2003 4x4 ext.cab with 5.3. When i bought the truck the cruise worked fine. I had a problem with the evap vent solenoid and noticed the cruise didn't work. When i fixed the solenoid and cleared the code it started working again but now it has stopped again and there a no codes in the computer. Any ideas on what might be wrong would be great. Oh yea and one more thing speedo is a little jumpy sometimes too not sure if that is part of the problem or not.

Check the turn signal lever where it connects to the steering column... there should be a small gap or window on the back side of it where you can see the wires running from the cruise control in the lever into the steering column. If the specific cruise control wires were routed incorrectly or seated themselves in the wrong spot, they could have been possibly subjected to years of being pinched when you actuated the tilt steering wheel causing them to finally short out. There are four wires you should be looking for (Red, Blue Yellow and Green). They were initially wrapped together in a black sheath, but if they were being pinched, it woud have worn through the sheath too. Hope this helps.
