Question Hub Assy Diagnosis

Is there any way to diagnosis a front hub assy sensor without going to the dealer. Such as putting a meter on the plug and taking a reading. I replaced a front hub assy on a 2001 grand am 8 months ago because the stock bearing was bad, now i have abs and trac lights on. I want to find out which wheel it is as it could also be a rear wheel sensor. thanks Thom

Re: Hub Assy Diagnosis

You can check the resistance at each sensor, ft about 1160 ohms rear about 1050, varies with temps, the right way is to scan it with a abs function scanner during a road test.

Re: Hub Assy Diagnosis

Just look for a ballpark figure around 1K ohms and compare all four wheel sensor readings. Also, measure the reference voltage ( 5 volts) from the ABS module to make sure it is getting to each hub at the electrical connector.

The specs from the FSM are based on temperature at 68 degrees F/20 degrees C.

Re: Hub Assy Diagnosis

ok i checked both front hubs, the driver side that we replaced 11 months ago reads 1.075, while the passenger side has no reading at all, i forgot to check the 5 volts going into the hub, well back outside and pull the wheel to take that reading. thanks for your help
