Weird noise in a 98 lude
This only happens when I'm going 30mph+, and going straight. The noise stops when I take a turn, but if I'm going 20mph, nothing happens. Around 25mph it'll start making a noise. It sounds like it comes from the rear left of the car, and I'm not sure if it's air passing through some place it's not supposed to, or if something is rubbing against part of the tire/wheel/brake. I did slide off the highway month or so ago, but nothing too extreme. Sustained some front end damage, but that's it. My guess is something got bent out of place, perhaps? Maybe the frame got bent. I don't know if that's possible. If anyone has any ideas, please share!

Re: Weird noise in a 98 lude
is it a whistling noise?
a grinding noise? a clunking noise? Just look under the wheel well at the side you think its coming from, and check to see if anything under there is rubbed clean. In the wheel wells, everything basically collects dirt and dust, if something is touching, it'll be the only spot thats clean in the whole dirty wheel well.

It's more like a grinding noise. It doesn't happen non-stop, but I would say frequently. I hope my baby isn't dying! :'(

Have you checked your brake pads?

My pads were alright, they didn't move. It's the rear left rotor that has a little bit of play. Is it an easy fix, or is it something the dealership has to do?

It's a wheel bearing! I get to go back to Les Schwab tomorrow and get it replaced. Woohoo!! And next on my to-do list, a replaced front fascia, then a taillight!
