mr2 turbo install problems... GRRR
We installed the basic upgraded turbo kit from ATP performance, complete with injectors, pump, and upgraded ecu, but... for some freaking reason we cannot get the car to run... it fires up and turns over great and then maybe 2 or 3 seconds of heaven it just falls on it's face, you can't rev it or anything, we have tried just about everything, and I'm becomming annoyed with the lousy support from atp, the car has been down now for nearly 6 months, we have already sent the ecu back, and they said yep, for some reason this one is fried... and sent us another one, but to no avail, the same problem persists, Does anyone have any suggestions either obvious or not? possibly someone has an extra 92 mr2 turbo ecu laying around that we could try??? I really don't know what else it could be?

Between the turbo and the air filter is a large sensor called the MAF or AFM (mass air flow or air flow meter). When you removed that to install the turbo, did you happen to disconnect it by the 2 little screws on either side of the huge wire?
If so, that was a really terrible mistake. The proper way to remove the AFM is the incredibly thin, c-clip that surrounds the connection point. You remove that C-clip and then it simply unplugs. If you unscrewed it, then I am afraid you damaged the unit internally. That is my first geuss. My second guess would be a really bad boost/vac leak somewhere in the intake tract.

Honestly I can't remember, but I will have to check, actually I remember when we did the clutch, we forgot to plug it in and man the car ran like shit, haha, right from the startup... this time it fires perfect and Idles great for a few short seconds and then just acts like it was turned off, it doesn't stumble or struggle as if we had an air leak, but yes we did do a air leak test with our homade leak checker, we pressurized it past 30 lbs, and all was fine, I really wish there was some way to trouble shoot the ecu...
