Need Some Help Here!

99 Tahoe 2WD, auto, 4.7 (old style). Had low fuel pressure (50 PSI). Replaced fuel pump and filter, now I have 54 PSI. Everyone says I need at least 60 PSI. Can I change or adjust the regulator to increase pressure??? Can I make an in-line (at fuel filter) pressure check to verify my new pump is putting out good pressure. I don't know whether to remove the intake to replace/adjust the regulator or drop the tank and replace the new pump again (it's still under warantee). Gil in Tex

Re: Need Some Help Here!

The GM service manual says 55-60 psi. You're at 54. Unless you're having drivability problems I wouldn't worry about it. Maybe try a different pressure guage and compare???................Steve

Re: Need Some Help Here!

My Tahoe is clattering (valves) under load. I replaced the fuel pump because the pressure was at 50 PSI. Most everyone on this forum (including Merlin)says I should have at least 60 and that 64 is preferable. The new pump gave me 54 PSI (still too low). I just need to know if I can get a better reading at the fuel filter and if the regulator can raise the pressure to 60????Gil in Tex
