Keyless remote programming

Hello, I recently bought an 03 GTS, but the seller didn't give me any remote keys. I wanted to have keyless system and then found out from the dealer that this car already has a factory keyless system.

So I am thinking of getting the transmitter key off Ebay or various sites. However I am a little puzzled as to the many kinds of keys available (and claimed to fit an 03 eclipse). There are the two-button (lock and unlock) transmitter, another that has trunk release included, and some with panic button. My question is, which is the actual one that is for an 03 GTS? I was able to learn from the dealer that my car has the keyless and alarm system. Also, are there system that don't allow the trunk release? Please advise me. Thanks!

Andrew

Re: Keyless remote programming

As far as I know, our cars dont have a trunk release. As for the remote, the factory one i recived had 4 buttons witch are programable. As for programing it, it's a long process.
1st step flip the valet switch to on,off 3 times Car should chirp once. Hold the button you want to lock the car untill alarm chirps. \

2nd step Flip valet switch on,off once, It will chirp twice. Hold whatever button you want to unlock the car untill alarm chips agian.

Your done. On and off may be switched IDK. You can set up to 6 differnt things but all you need is the first 2. Holding the Arm/lock car button down will act like a panic button. Valet switch is a little silver switch under dash below the drivers side fuse box.

These are all refering to how my car is, I have a factory Alarm.

Re: Keyless remote programming

So I should buy one that only has the lock/unlock feature? I would love to have a trunk release though.

Btw, the programming instruction you provided is quite different from any that I have found around here or google. Most of what I found required tampering around with the pin 1 and 4 of the DLC underneath the dashboard. Is yours an 03 GTS hatchback too? Were you re-programming old key or programming new key? Mine has a manual trans(if that makes a difference).

Re: Keyless remote programming

Had to re-program factory key cause battery in it died.
Thats how you reset the factory alarm. If anything just find out what company made your alarm and look for the manual onine thats what I did.

Re: Keyless remote programming

The 2002+ models use FCC: OUCG8D-525M-A. Whether the remote has the TRUNK button or not on the outside, all the circuit boards DO have that circuit pad on them, you just can't press it on the 2 button remotes.

I have a 2002 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS. I bought a keyless remote from ebay and am trying to figure out keyless programming. I can't seem to locate the valet switch.

Please help.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Keyless remote programming

Thanks Drifter,

I did open up the fuse box near the driver side...but could not find the valet switch...Is it inside the fuse box or next to the fuse box?

Thanks again.

Re: Keyless remote programming

Sounds like you may have the wrong remote...since the instructions look the same from 2000 and 2002. What numbers are on the back of your current remote?

Re: Keyless remote programming

It sounds like they're just too worn to read, but the numbers are HYQ12ABA
