Front End/ ABS Sensor

I have a 97 GTP with 161,000 miles. For the last couple of weeks there are some problems popping up.
1. At highway speeds, the front end vibrates a little only when i am accelerating. There is no vibration if I take my foot off the padle. Front end vibrates during braking too but not always. Earlier I had warped rotors and I got that fixed and I get tires rotated regularly.
2. Last weekend, I was driving in heavy snow and the ABS and "check tire press" light came on simultaneously. It reset only when i started the car again. Now those lights come on every now and then.

Some more info that might help nail the problem down:
When I go over small potholes and gravel road, it sound like something is lose/worn out in the front end.
The suspension sound pretty rough too.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks

Re: Front End/ ABS Sensor

Check the abs sensor wires to each wheel. One of the wires may have come loose or is damaged. If not you may have an ABS sensor going bad. The hub and sensor are together in one assembly so you will have to change everything. Check the maintenance section on how to change the bearing.

There is also a good possibility that you bent something in the front end but that is extremely doubtful. I have a feeling that you may have knocked an ABS wire off or it got crudded up when you hit the snow bank. I had a similar issue with my 97 and it turned out to be the wheel sensor and it displayed the same symptoms you are indicating.

Re: Front End/ ABS Sensor

I remember when I changed the hub assembly that we forgot to connect the sensor and we got that ABS light. So I will check the wires on the sensor. Thanks for the reply.
Can this cause vibration too in the front end or that is being caused by something else.

Re: Front End/ ABS Sensor

I have a 97 GP GT and it had the same problem. It was the right front wheel baring. Put it on and haven't had a problem since.
