01 malibu keyless entry

Hi, Ive got an 01 malibu that I bought in 01 as an ex-rental with 20k. Its been a great car so far. 68k and no major problems. It was an ex rental and I never got the keyless entry remotes. Well it turns out, through a vin search, that this car never had keyless entry. I dont want an aftermarket unit that butchers my wiring harness. Ive seen that go bad before. Ive been told that I need to add the alarm module. Ive seen the remote receiver for sale. Is this the same thing? If its something I can buy and just plug in, (junkyard perhaps?) that would be great. Any help appreciated.
