My 2.5 Cyl Corolla

I have an 89 Corolla, 4-AF engine and it is missing horribly. I have checked the mechanical parts of the head, and it seems to be in fine condidtion. ( I have not removed the head to see what the block/piston situation is.)

My question is, could there be an electrical problem that is causing it to miss so bad? When the motor is running, I can pull the #2 and #4 plug wire(s) and there is no difference in the engine note, (which is horrible.) Should I look at replacing the distributor? I've already replaced the cap/wires.

Re: My 2.5 Cyl Corolla

Have you done a compression test? Do you get spark at the #2 and #4 spark plug?

Weak Spark...Low Compression.

Have you done a wet compression test? If yes, were the readings higher?
Weak spark can be caused by bad spark plug wires, cap, or rotor.
