Re: Upgrade Time

be patient when looking around. I purchased an IA 20.1 used for $475 shipped. And don't be afriad to spend a little more on something you really want, you most likely keep it longer.

Re: Upgrade Time

yea i know i made that mistake with this amp. i should have looked at the fuses. i read somewhere like 2 days ago about looking at the fuses for b/s claims. then i looked at mine. 2 40amp fusea. that would equal 80 if that is how that works ( not totally sure) so if that is correct 80 times 13.8 ( normal warm output) equals 1104 and thats out 100% effiencie(sp) it is a class d but class are normal in the 80's to low 90's for effiencie(sp). like i could rise my budget up to 500 but that would put a bigger hold on my speakers and such. but if that means a better then i will be willing to do it.

Any comments on the sx9004 cause i was leaning towards it because i probelly will be getting it for my speakers

Don't ever look at cars as just imports or domestics. Just because a car is made in a certain country doesn't mean that it is anything like another car from that country. An example of this is Mitsubishi reliability, just because they are Japanese doesn't mean that they are as reliable as a Honda or Toyota.

Re: Upgrade Time

never owned any ED stuff. That amps X volts thing is just a rough estimate ..... that is a DC calculation and the amp puts out "AC". If it has 80 amps of fusing, it should be able to deliver quite a bit of power

Re: Upgrade Time

yea but also, the amp is not regulated at all. at times when the alternator gets warm and starts to drop a little you can hear the difference in the output.

but also if you remeber like a week ago i made a commet to someone because he was trying to show off his 500 doller amp and then you came in and said that. that will probelly be thel ast amp that he has to buy. i kinda want amp like that.

The last amp you would ever need anything from Zapco, mcinstosh, sinfoni. Jk You could buy a car for the cost of some of those amps. Zapco is affordable, ive been looking at cadence, autotek, zapco, and a couple of other brands for the RE comps and the atlas 15's. But im still looking i was going to buy the autotek amps but im debating.

Im sure one of the High end members might know something.

Re: Upgrade Time

I havent heard alot about new us amps mainly the older ones. If they price there stuff like they did with RE than your going to be trading some body limbs to get an amp that puts out anything over 500 watts.

Re: Upgrade Time

I like clarions HU, and there amps are supposed to be good. Also look into cadence amps and some of the PPI line are supposed to be pretty good.
