Need help diagnosing Wiper parking problem
New to the board and was wondering if anybody could lead me in the right direction for diagnosing a problem on my girlfriends taurus. It's a 97 and the wipers don't want to park themselves in their normal position, just wherever they are when you turn them off. The only time they'll return to their normal position is when we have them on high and quickly turn them to off. Today she said they wouldn't even work on "intermittent" but I haven't verified that yet. I've done a little research and found there's a module which can take a dump and the switch itself. I don't want to rule out the motor yet either. But any advice or a step in the right direction would be appreciated. Thanks!

Re: Need help diagnosing Wiper parking problem
On my son's 93 Taurus, the intermittents were "intermittently" acting up, I replaced the stalk control, all is good... his wipers were still parking correctly though the intermittents were not always operating... I do know that if your wiper blades are frozen to the glass or in any way prevented from moving when you turn them on, there is a chance of burning out the parking circuitry.. this cannot be fixed as far as I know, the wiper motor must be replaced..

Re: Need help diagnosing Wiper parking problem
Sounds like the multifunction switch (turn signal stalk) is going bad. Common problem. There is a way to clean them, I've seen a guide on the TCCA site for it. I'll have to go see if I can find it.
The link should work for any 96-07 Taurus, they are the same thing. http://www.taurusclub.com/wiki/index...witch_Cleaning

Re: Need help diagnosing Wiper parking problem
Just pulled the car in my shop and cleaned out the contacts like that site explained. there wasn't a whole lot of goo in there and it still didn't fix it. I think my next move is to try a new switch
