How to install the timing chain

Okay fellas i have the cam and crank in but when i go to place the timing gears on i notice that i need some kind of key or something to lock them to the cam and crank i hope this is normal please help asap.

Your cam should have a metal dowel that will go into a hole on the cam gear. The crank gear needs a woodruff key in a slot on the crank to align with the crank gear.
