I have a 1992 cavalier and the oil gauge will go all the way up when giving gas and all over the place while ideling I was under the car looking at the exhaust (it's a little loud...lol) anyway I noticed the oil pan has a big dent in it. I could fit almost my whole fist in it. It looks like someone tried jacking the vechile up by the oil pan. Would I be right in saying this might be causeing my gauge problem.

Re: oil gauge question
I thought all they had was a speedo, fuel gauge and a temp gauge..

Re: oil gauge question
It is probably just a bad oil pressure sender. In other words, the reading the guage is displaying is probably not accurate. My advice - just ignore it.
