Just got a Neon and have some questions

I just got a 95 and don't know a lot about these cars. It has 160800 kms on it and the gas gauge is reading off by a 1/4.(1/4 = empty, 1/2 = 1/4, ect) Is this a common problem with this car or year? Also, the timing belt. When should it be changed?

If anyone has any sugestions on maintenance or services that should be done at this mileage please share.

Thanks

Re: Just got a Neon and have some questions

Your fuel sending unit may be going bad and thus reading incorrectly.

The timing belt, water pump and tensioner pulley should all be changed every 100,000 miles. If you are not sure the last time the car had a tune-up, change the spark plugs, wires, PCV valve, oil filter and air filter to start off with. Make sure the axles are greased and the CV boots are in good condition.
