Re: awesome.

What exactly did you do? I know you are supposed to switch from high beams to fogs...or use your fogs period.

Re: awesome.

i wasn't trying to do anything, well, aside from see at night.
the multifunction switch went and melted the connector,i'm lucky my car didn't burn up.
all electrical is bone stock to the the bulbs, no modifications.
check your switch when you get a chance, chrysler doesn't sell just the connector,if i want to fix this properly,i have to buy the entire dash wiring harness, $700.

Re: awesome.

You don't need the whole harness. I will email you a solution.

Re: awesome.

Dodge uses too thin of wiring and what will happen is it will overload the connection on the multifunction switch. It will burn up your clip and usually your switch itself. I recommend not using your fogs, brights, or switch from fogs to brights. Those seem to be where some of the trouble starts. Also, if you purchase aftermarket HID's, be sure to use a relay harness because the initial turn on is enough to overload the wires.

There is a way around it though. Just install relays on each harness...the fogs and headlight harness. That will bypass power going through the stock wiring.

Re: awesome.

It's not very difficult, I just ordered my harness from element motorsports...and I plan on not using my headlights until it gets here....to prevent from any unwanted melting from happening. Basically it's a plug-n-play type deal. One wire goes to the left side of the harness, one wire goes to the right side of the harness, one to the ground, and one to the positive on the battery. All this prevents any power going through the harness itself and straight from the battery instead. If you get any new bulbs, hids, or use your fogs a lot...this is definitely something to look foward to. Element sells the harness for $50...and trust me...it's definitely worth the money. Think, you will be spending $50 either way...on a new clip or on a relay harness. Why not make it easy on yourself and avoid the pain of having to splice all those wires...trust me...the dealer will not warrenty this.

Re: awesome.

This is interesting. I just went and looked at a black '04 today and I came here looking for things like this. Are there many things like this that commonly go wrong with these cars? I'm a Nissan man so, as bad as this may be, buying a Dodge kinda creeps me out. I really like the cars but I'm wary...I wonder if I really should be like this. Any info is appreciated, guys! Thanks!

Re: awesome.

04's tend to be the best year to purchase. It can easily be remedied with a relay harness. I wouldn't let something like this scare you from going through with it. Just check your basic stuff and you should be fine.
