04 windshield noise

I have a 04 Silverado. The windshield has a vibration/rattle at high speeds. It sounds like it is coming from the seal on the windshield. The dealer said it may be from the aftermarket bug deflector routing the air into the seal causing it to "flap", but it seems tight when I've checked it. He said a GM bug shield would not route the air to the same place. He told me he would be happy to put some 2 sided tape there for a "small" price...Anyone ever had this problem? Know of a fix?
Thanks in advance.

Re: 04 windshield noise

I had this same problem, and the dealer is right. What happens is that the bugshield changes the air flow over the hood and causes the little rubber strips on either side of the windshield to flap. I ran a bead of silicone under the rubber flap, and also around those loose-fitting plastic pieces at the bottom of the flaps (between the edge of the hood and the windshield). Works like a charm.

Re: 04 windshield noise

the rubber trim on my silverado came loose a little while it was under warranty... all the dealer did was replace the double sided tape that held it on there.

Worked like a charm.

Re: 04 windshield noise

Yea, mine does it too and did it with an aftermarket and GM bugguard, but not without. The dealer said that the GM guard wouldn't cause the rattle, so I had them stick one on. It rattled, so I made em take it off and give me my money back since I alrady had the other one and it was a steal from a friend. The tape or silicone do work though.
